NOVEMBER 2007 UPDATE
Revised Regulations enacted and effective on
October 22, 2007:
The revised regulations went into effect on
Monday, October 22, 2007. These regulations are a culmination of more than 2
years of study, drafting, and coordination. These regulations are on this
website and should be downloaded and studied.
ALL LICENSED CHIROPRACTORS ARE REQUIRED TO
KNOW, UNDERSTAND, AND ADHERE TO THE PROVISIONS.
There are several changes to the regulations.
The biggest change is the redrafting of the entire Chapter 7, dealing with CA’s
and Supervising Chiropractors. The following are just SOME of the
changes you will find in these new regulations:
-
All Board forms have been revised to comply
with the new regulations. Please use only the forms downloaded from this site
or call the Board for hard copies. Please DISCARD any previous editions of
Board forms – they are now outdated and will not be accepted.
-
Complete revision of Chapter 7 pertaining to
CA and Supervising Chiropractor scope of practice, supervision, education, and
qualifications. CA and Supervising Chiropractor provisions are now required to
maintain a detailed, written log/record of all applicants’ training. This log
is subject to audit at any time by the Board and must be submitted to the
Board with an applicant’s documentation to qualify the applicant for the CA
examination. Failure of the Supervising Chiropractor to maintain this log is
a violation of the regulations.
-
Allowing the Board to waive the in-service
and educational requirements of a healthcare practitioner, such as an RN or a
PTA (on a case-by-case review), seeking CA registration.
-
Substantially tightening Supervising
Chiropractor applicant qualifications by now requiring passing a special
examination and a Board interview.
-
A new fee schedule – renewal fee increased to
$650.00, Supervising Chiropractor application fee increased to $300.00,
failure to maintain current address penalty increased to $200.00.
-
Revised CEU provisions to now require 3 hours
of Communicable Disease (AIDS/HIV) training and 5 hours of Risk Management, of
which 1 hour must be in jurisprudence.
-
Requirement for CEU course submissions to be
assessed a $25.00 - $50.00 per course review fee, depending on length of
course.
-
Requirement for requests for CEU approval to
be submitted at least 90 days prior to commencement of the course/program.
-
Substantially expanded standards of practice
and ethics provisions, making it more clear what conduct is deemed
inappropriate, unprofessional or unethical.
The Board stresses that it is imperative that
licensees read and follow these regulations. They are now in force.
Violations or professed ignorance of these new provisions will not be accepted
as excuses. As always, if you have any questions or need clarification or
interpretation, please call the Executive Director, Mr. J.J. Vallone, at (410)
