DECEMBER 2007 UPDATE

BOARD DETERMINES DEADLINE FOR CA CPR CERTIFICATION:

Under the revised regulations, all CAs are required to maintain a current CPR certification (Provider Level).  CA applicant/trainees must have a current CPR certification as a requirement to sit for their CA Examination.  For Registered CAs, the Board has given them UNTIL APRIL 1, 2009 TO OBTAIN THEIR CPR CERTIFICATION.  That is the date of their biennial renewal.  CAs will be required to produce verification of CPR certification to qualify for renewal.  Only CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Assn. (Provider Level) are acceptable.

BOARD TO OFFER NO-COST RISK MANAGEMENT/JURISPRUDENCE PRESENTATIONS:

At times to be announced (during calendar year 2008) the Board will be conducting no cost risk management/jurisprudence seminars at sites and dates to yet be determined.  These presentations will count toward the biennial 5 hour risk management/jurisprudence requirement.  The seminars will emphasize the revised regulations, record-keeping, CA work-related issues and will include a multiple-choice, self-graded quiz.  Watch this website and newsletters for coming information.  The Board will also advise all active licensees through the mail.

BOARD INITIATIVES FOR WINTER 2008:

1.  Board Move:  The Board will be moving its offices to the 3rd floor in February, 2008.  The new spaces will be more efficient, staff and security friendly and will include new data lines, fiber-optic cables and more storage space.  The Board hopes to keep disruptions to a minimum, however, it is anticipated that 3-5 business days may be affected.

2.  New Board Database:  The Board will be receiving a new database this winter.  The new system will allow for more rapid processing of renewals, including on-line renewals, open verification in a real-time/on line status, better data retrieval capabilities.  In addition, this will move the Board towards an all-electronic information system whereby all notices and newsletters will be disseminated via the internet.  This will save tens of thousands of dollars annually in staffing, mailing and posting costs.
